Farleys D Standard has been breeding and raising exceptional AKC registered Apricot and Red Standard Poodles, and on occasions Black Standard Poodles, since 1989.
We have bred, raised and shown some of the best and finest Apricot and Red Standard Poodle Champions in the United States including:

We are always eager to help mentor, to lend a helping hand, or to support anyone who wants to learn and promote Apricot and Red Standard Poodles.
We are members of the Apricot Red Poodle Club where Terry is currently the Treasurer, and John is Corresponding Secretary. We are also members of the Greater Pittsburgh Poodle club where we have served as officers for different positions throughout the past years and Terry is currently the Treasurer. We were members of the Poodle Club of Long Island when we lived in New York City.
We are conscientious and responsible breeders that breed for the purpose of producing dogs to exhibit for ourselves, occasionally raising one or two litters per year in Apricot, Red and/or Black Standard Poodles. Our goal from the start was, and still remains, to raise healthy, happy, well-tempered, affectionate puppies that are also a good representation of the breed.
By carefully selecting bloodlines and characteristics that complement one another together with extensive pedigree research, networking and health testing we feel our puppies to be an exemplary representation of type, structure and temperament the Standard Poodle requires.
Our puppies are well-suited for conformation, all-around performance, and to be beloved pets.
Health Screening: We use the following health screening procedures: Hip Dysplasia (OFA) or (Penn Hip), CERF, vWD (Von Willebrand's Disease), SA (Sebaceous Adenitis), complete Thyroid panel, and other blood tests including Addison Disease.

Unfortunately the Standard Variety of Poodles have many health issues at this time. Testing all breeding stock is vital to help insure dogs that are not clear/normal in testing are not used for breeding. Breeders who say they don't have to do the testing are NOT helping the breed. Many of the health issues lay silent and parents may be carriers. Without knowledge of what they are clear or carriers there is no way to know for sure HOW to breed a particular dog or bitch.

Responsible breeding should always strive for improving the line and improving the breed - without appropriate testing of all breeding stock, this is impossible to achieve! A breeder who does not test his or her breeding stock should not be breeding in my opinion.

Our poodles live in our home as a part of our family and puppies are raised with hands on from the time they are born. We breed for conformation, health, and temperament in black and white, and occasionally apricot, cream, and blue. Miniature poodles receive eye exams by a veterinarian who is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists as well as a DNA test for progressive retinal atrophy. They also are screened for hip dysplasia, legg calve perthes, patellar luxation, thyroid malfunction, and Von Willebrands disease.
Standard Poodles are tested for hip dysplasia using the OFA or Penn Hip method and also receive eye exams by a veterinarian who is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. We are a small quality breeder specializing in black and white standard poodles, from top winning, top producing Am. and Can. Champion bloodlines. We are not a kennel, our puppies are born and raised in our home and extensively socialized with adults, children and dogs. We breed only 1 to 2 quality litters per year.
While we enjoy many prestigious wins, our main interest is with the health and temperament of our dogs. Ormar poodles are internationally known to be sound, possessing beautiful breed type, wonderful temperament, good health, and longevity. We genetically test for Hips (OFA), Eyes (CERF, or ACVO certificate), NE (DNA OFA), Thyroid (T3-4 TSH OFA), SA (Sebaceous Adenitis), & VwD (DNA VET GEN).
We provide copies of all genetic testing results, and a 5 (five) years written Health Guarantee to our clients. We thoroughly screen potential clients to ensure our puppies are placed in forever, loving, responsible homes. Our puppies are temperament tested and carefully matched with the owner. RAISING YOUR STANDARDS
Leading the Poodle breed in health screenings achieved and registered, Julie and Kirk Reed of Tiara Black Standard Poodles challenge other Poodle Breeders to accomplish at least the basic CHIC health screenings always before breeding their Poodles. Currently breeding the sixth generation of Tiara CHIC designated Standard Poodles, the Reeds place a great concern for increased/maintained longevity averages in their line of handsome, winning Poodles.
CHIC is an acronym for Canine Health Information Center and every shopper of any breed of dog or cat should be made aware of the great information that can be gleaned from that database.
The Tiara Poodles are reared holistically and the breeders are currently feeding the third generation fed a raw diet. New owners are encouraged to rear their dogs the same and there is an extensive network or "clan" as they refer to themselves of the Tiara Poodle owners.
Public education is a primary focus and new fanciers are encouraged to become involved in dog sports. The Tiara Poodles are very athletic and can be seen winning in agility trials in several regions of the United States.
Coefficiencies of inbreeding (COIs) are produced at under 6 % for 10 generations at Tiara. The average in Std Pdls is now at or just over 20% for 10 generations. The Std Pdl gene pool is thought to be shrinking.

Health Screening: We use the following Health Screening procedures: No Shortcuts! Standard Poodle CHIC requirements accomplished on all dogs to be used for breeding, OFA evaluation and/or PennHip evaluation, YEARLY CERF evaluations and results registered, Autoimmune thyroiditis OFA evaluation from an approved laboratory, Sebaceous Adenitis OFA evaluation by approved lab.
ADDITIONALLY - most dogs of modern times bred by Tiara are also given these health screenings with results registered on www.offa.org: Patella, Shoulders, von Williebrands DNA, Cardiac and we are beginning to donate DNA Samples for Canine Health Research through CHIC.

We have given Personality Profiles to three generations. Important is what we do to maintain health and that includes rearing the dogs on a no grain diet, limiting vaccines and caring for the dogs holistically. All of our personal dogs are kept in beautiful condition and professionally groomed several times each month.
A record 40 Std Pdls have been designated CHIC that were bred by Tiara Poodles; the first of these over six generations ago was born in 1984. Only dogs designated CHIC have been used since for breeding by Tiara.
